Went down to PS today to get a new backpack as well as a pull-up bar, it was pretty much an impromptu thing, i was supposed to just have dinner with my mum and sis at compass point, so i ended up touring PS dressed as if i was going down to the coffee shop. Well, my old bagpack's in a pretty bad shape and the relatively new laptop sling bag that came with the comp decided to give way the other day when i trying to catch the train. Luckily i was gripping the sling otherwise my lappie might possibly be in the ICU now. Anyway it's quite a pity that i have to retire the laptop bag so soon cause it was made of seemingly resilient material packed with a generous amount of foam and waterproofing material. Not surprisingly, the weakest link turned out to to be one of those plastic links that the sling passes through. Saw tw's laptop bag at RSH and was really tempted to get one but at $89, i thought it was kind of expensive given that, with that amount, i could get a fairly decent deuter. The other laptop backpacks at sports connection were relatively cheaper (approx 60 bucks) but the designs were somewhat nerdy and all didn't match the padding in the current one i had. Anyway saw one deuter at PS careffour that caught my eye, nevetheless it didn't have a padded sleeve for the lappie but at 64 bucks bucks, i could always get one of those neoprene sleeves from popular at 20 bucks and still it would be cheaper than $89 (which i guess was my innate budget although i didn't set one explicitly). In the end i felt that the padded sleeves at popular and carrefour weren't worth 20 bucks at all, skimpy peices of foam and cloth sewn together and they tried to sell me at $15, simply riduclous. Give the inadequacies of the market, i decided to embark on an operation of my own or more precisely, an organ transplant. Well, i basically cut the padded sleeve off my old laptop bag, sew up the loose ends and now i have the bagpack i want coupled with the best shock absorbing qualities hehe, now allow me to present my work of art, i really should have been a doctor haha:
Here's the old laptop bag, decimated, stripped of all its vital entities:
Here's what i've managed and wanted to savage, the padded sleeves and more foam, perhaps for the base of my new deuter.
Guess u guys probably couldn't make out what the previous foto was all about anyway here's the sleeve i have been talking about, after i sewed up all the loose ends. Yeah, i did it with jay chou's secret playing in the background.
Here's where the harvested entities are heading for:
here's my new pull-up bar with relies solely on friction, no screws, can't tell a difference from the one at the playground, stability wise, looks cool har.
