Just paid 40 bucks for a 1GB Kingston elite pro from active-fotos at SLS.

The "normal" version's going for 33.80 bucks only. Bought from the indians without much thinking, not that i was impatient but rather i had other other shops quoting me 40 bucks or somewhere around there for the normal version that is, in fact i had one particular shop quoting me 45 bucks for the normal version.

If you aren't aware, the elite pro, going by the manufacturer's specs, reads and writes at a much faster rate i.e. greater bandwidth thus explaining its higher price tag.

Kind of comical, now that i recall the way the mainland chinese lady from that shop tried to rip me off. She took a hard look at me (probably contemplating over what price to quote me) before uttering that disgusting sum (come on $45 is way above the average there besides...i'm a local and you try to rip the locals off at their own turf?).

At this juncture, allow me to digress a little.

Now all guys, to some extent, embrace technology. In other words, they are technology geeks, always seeking out the best, the coolest, the fastest and the blah blah blah and of course i'm no exception becuse i'm 100% man haha. While this (particular trait) may not be apparent, it's most certainly innate in all guys.

Also, another distinctive trait of guys is that we only consider whatever that is tangible, real. One form of measure (of "tangibility") that guys employ or rather indulge in, is numbers take for instance...the car's maximum speed, the number of pull-ups they can do, the distance they can run etc in fact almost whatever you can think off. Most numbers are probably patriarchial inventions haha.

Having pointed out the two main distinctive traits of guys as well as all the crap about the new sd card...it would be fairly apparent that i intend/expect to measure the computing power encompassed in my palm and its accompanying sd card and this formulates the focus for the latter part of this entry.

Well, to quantify the "power" of my new sd card, i downloaded a program called VFSmark, it's essentially a benchmark program that will compare the read/write speeds of your card wrt a standard system which in this case happens to be a palm m500 equipped with a 16mb palmone sd card and here are the results and i will let the numbers speak for themselves.

My E2 with a sandisk 64mb SD card ( i took it from camera and used it for the time prior to getting my elite - pro)

File Delete: 17%

File Write: 27%

File Read: 110%

File Seek: 210%

DB Export: 17%

DB Import: 101%

Pretty mediocre, huh considering the m500 is pretty old.

Now, with the new sd card...

I guess that $40 was inevitable.

Can't justify the $7 i spend more for the elite pro though.
