Just watched a movie with my JC buddies. To be frank, prior to todays outing, I was a bit apprehensive. We haven't met for such a long time and i was wondering if there was much to talk about. Anyway conversation came quite naturally, which made me conclude that brudders will always be brudders. As for the film, King Kong, surprise to say, it's probably one of the few films that deserves every penny the ticket costs. Initially, i was expecting a simplistic movie centering on special effects and the fight between big monkey and T-rex, probably analogous to alien vs predator i thought. Nevertheless i was wrong. The film is such an all rounder that it makes you laugh (when big monkey eats the leaves of a tree like a panda), scared (or really grossed out with those giant centipedes, bigger than those in tekong), fascinated (when the crew encounters skull island and its minions) and of course sad. In fact, big monkey was so realistic that not only did he seem just like a real gorilla, for a moment, i thought he was human with his soulful eyes and extensive facial expression and gestures. At the end of the day, the film really is a story of forbidden love, an individual (big monkey if you prefer) and his blind and fervent passion for naomi watts.
